Hello from Maryland. Like you, I've never followed a pattern exactly, and probably never will. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it works for me. (I'm curious, are you a second-born? We don't follow rules; we break them!)

Welcome to this board. I too do not follow a pattern, whether it be for sewing, knitting, cross stitch, quilting or etc...I follow by pic and put to my own size or placement...Welcome from NE Iowa..
