Welcome to NY.. I don't know of any quilting guilds, as I don't have time to join. I can tell you that there is a wonderful fabric store in Astoria, which is not far from Forest Hills. If you Google fabric stores in Astoria, you will find the store I think on 30th st. I don't live in the area, as I live on Long Island. He sells all kinds of fabric, but has a bunch of cottons for $2.50 a yard that are amazingly decent, and has a bunch of batiks, and color washed. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Welcome from South Carolina/UK
If you find a quilting/fabric store near your home you could ask them and I am sure they will be able to help you find a local guild.

Hello and welcome from a dull and dreich Scotland! If you get homesick, just keep reminding yourself of the $22 price tag for a metre of fabric here, lol!

Thank you so much for that information, that's very helpful. We have now moved in and I will get over to Astoria and find the store as soon as I get the chance.
