Hello from North-Central Texas!
Hi Everybody! I have admired quilts for many years but never even considered trying to become a quilter since I had a bad experience learning to sew when I was in my teens. Years (many!) go by and I get heavily into scrapbooking around 1998-99 and at some point start threadless "sewing" on an old Singer that no longer works. then threading by hand. Then one day I wander into this really neat quilt shop looking for thread and whatever - and decided I had to give it a try after talking with one of the girls in the shop! Next stop - a machine. I bought a starter Janome and am learning the machine - took a beginning sewing class last night and I can tell you I care NOTHING about making garments but will muddle through it . . . did come away with a severe case of Bernina envy . . . . take my first quilt class in March and I am so excited I can hardly contain myself! I was thrilled when I came across this site - hope to learn a lot from all of you talented ladies (and gents). My poor DH is terrified however - I have a scrapbook room with everything under the sun related to that hobby in there (he tells people the house would burn for weeks if it ever caught fire due to all the paper up there) and he is afraid the quilting thing might have a similar outcome? Me too! LOL Can't wait to see how all of you here organize and have your rooms set up - and your equipment! Probably have lots of questions! So glad to be here!
