I am Faith and I am a wanna be quilter....
Hello and greetings from Portland,Oregon by way of Washington (the state).
I have dabbled in quilting for a little over 12 years now. My first quilt was a flannel rag quilt for my wonderful son. My second is a (stack and whack) that I had started for my Mom that passed in 2001. It was just quilted by a dear friend, finally finished after waiting over 9 years. She quilted it as a wedding present for us. Bless her heart..
I find it amazing that our everyday lives can get in the way of things that we find joyful, calming, and healing. Not that life itself isn't all of those things, but sometimes when I look back at what I haven't done and what I would have liked to have done, I find myself going back to my crafts.
Of course now I have a wonderful new husband that yes only rolls his eyes when I go to storage to pick up some totes (and we all know what's in them) and start unpacking them.
We are looking for our "forever home" So that I can have my "craft room" and get everything out of storage. :-D
I have a Singer Featherweight that my Dad bought my Mom new. She used to sew my sister and brothers clothes on it. That is what I do all my piecing on now. I also have a Singer treadle machine that I want to restore.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it... ;)
Sorry if I was long winded....

Welcome Faith,
From a Northern Michigan quilter. Sounds like you ARE a quilter, not wanna be. After you make your first quilt you are a quilter. I have 2 treadle sewing machines, one White and one Singer. They were both restored by my step father one for me and the other was my grandmothers. I learned to quilt on them. Welcome to the board, I am sure you will love it here.
