Default Help Mom complete her quilting list.

Dear Friends,

I am new to quilting although I have been a sewer for many years. Recently my Mother was diagnoses with Alzheimer's. She has been quilting form many years. She has always made a quilt for her grandchildren when they were married. Now she is having a hard time even remembering how to cut out a butterfly pattern. She has asked me to help her complete 10 quilts by Christmas. This will cover the remaining grandchildren that are not at marrying age.
If you have any advice for me, I would truly appreciate it. We plan to make the quilts full size, not queens. She is doing the quilting, as always, by hand. I am to make the tops. I am almost finished with a butterfly quilt she started.
I am looking for simple patterns that can be put together quickly. She has the books but can't seem to think through which ones will be best to do. I hope to get the tops put together and then sit with her in the evenings to quilt.
Thank you for your help.

Warm Wishes is a super fast pattern . . . but looks pretty cool! Depending upon the fabric, it can be whimsical to elegant.

Do a search for "Warm Wishes" and you'll probably find dozens of examples.

If I was going to put 10 quilts together I would pick something fast and furious like "Turning 20" and just quick patchwork, maybe the single Irish chain. The quilting can go fairly quick on those also. And the different fabrics can make them each unique.

Is your mom on medication? Sending prayers for all of you!

So sorry to hear about your Mom. Mine had Alz too. We finally had to put her in a Nursing home. Don't to make special labels for the quilts.

Hi from Ohio! Sorry about your mom but you are helping her now so it doesn't bother her later.

I don't know how much time you will have. I would cut a lot of segments for the pointed Dresden plates. You can have her sew as many rings together as she can. You can then sew down the rings onto backgrounds and complete the quilts later if she is unable to help. If she is still able to quilt then get one ready for her to work on but you can machine quilt tops later or find a longarmer to finish them if needed.
