Hello from Tasmania

Hi everyone
This looks like an informative and friendly forum, so I think I may settle in for a bit.
Started sewing around a year ago - garments, mostly shirts & tops. My new sewing machine came with a lot of quilting extras, which I promptly put away, as I had no interest in quilting.
A few months back I had a need to make a quilt for my MIL and was surprised at how much I liked doing it. Instantly hooked!
I'm using the web, books & forums to learn this craft and am impatient to get to the 'interesting stuff', but realise I need a good grounding in the basics first.
I have an excellent book which I'm faithfully working my way through (and blogging my progress). It's the first in a series of teaching books and I have high hopes of doing the whole course.
My other sewing interest is vintage sewing machines - collecting, restoring, using.
It's doubtful I can contribute much, being such a raw newbie, but I'll try not to make too much of a nuisance of myself either.

Hullo from Brisbane to you Blockhead - I collect old sewing machines too. Even have a lovely one from Tassie, my very prized Frister & Rossmann hand crank. You will find this a very friendly and helpful site, so welcome aboard :)
