Hello from New Hampshire

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the site. This is the first time I have joined a quilters site on line. And so far I have enjoyed what I have seen. It gives me ideas and energy to work on my quilts. I tend to work very slowly. My quilting friends laugh at me when we get together to sew because I tend to talk and visit more that sew! LOL! But that's who I am and I am ok with it. I started quilting about 10 years ago but left it for awhile. Now I am getting back into it again. A friend of mine was given loads of cotton material (free). How come I never run into situations like that?!. Three of us sat down one Saturday afternoon and separated the fabric into matching colors. We have enough we think to do 18 to 20 quilt tops (lap size). So we are going to sew them as rows of 6-inch blocks, put them together and machine quilt and/or tie them. Then we are donating them to a charity. I don't know why, but I am so happy to be working on these scrappy quilts. I went out and bought more fabric to make more tops to donate. Most of the free fabrics were florals so I wanted to get some fabrics for boys. So far we have about 8 or 9 tops done. It started out with three of us working on them, and I have asked some of my other quilting friends and my Mom (who also quilts) if they would like to join in. We are even looking over our own scraps of fabric to see if we can make more. This has just ballooned into something bigger than all of us, but it feels great. And it is making me look through what I have collected for fabric and remembering the projects I have not yet started. It's giving me the impetus to get going on those when the charity quilts are done.
The weather is beautiful here today, sunny, breezy, cool, not too cold though. Spring in New England is great. Have great day everyone!
