Default Howdy from a Tiny Texas Town

I'm just now getting back into sewing and mainly want to do pillows and light upholstery work. My sister and a good friend quilt but I don't think I'm ready to handle it quite yet. I came here hoping to learn about the new machine I picked up on Friday in Round Top at Antiques Week. It's a Kenmore 158.850 or model 85 right? There is no manual and only one disc, 1b, number 1081. The manual is the main thing I am looking for.
I also have a JC Penney 9150 machine that I bought in the late 80's early 90's to sew clothes for my daughter and repair my husbands work clothes. It still works but I don't have the manual for that either. I did order one from a place called LRB services but it's been almost 2 weeks and nothing yet. Anyway that's me and I really want to learn how to clean my Kenmore and find out about it. I've seen a few videos on youtube that show how it sews but that's it. The belt is either worn out or something else is wrong because it doesn't turn the wheel and the needle doesn't move. When I hold the motor down it does tighten the belt and move the needle. The motor also has sparks on the inside. could that be because it's dirty? Thank you ladies. If anyone knows you will.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. You might want to post your machine question in the Antique and Vintage machine section. There are some knowledgable people there on machines.

Welcome from Texas!! I didn't have a manual for one of my machines. I googled it make and model and you should find it... If it's a Sears look up on a Sears page.. Good luck and have fun sewing...
