I love this site--but I am usually a lurker, enjoying everyone's photos of quilts and great hints. Now, I have something to share and advice to seek.---I am getting an Avante Handiquilter !!!!! Yeah!! It should arrive this week and I cannot wait. Any other handiquilters have advice for a novice longarm quilter? I have wrangled my last quilt through my DSM....I found it a challenge but limiting. I am a grandmother, retired teacher and life is too short not to have my own longarm quilting machine!!

Welcome from Alabama. I've had my Avante for about 4 mos. I love it. Their customer service is great. I've done 10 quilts on it so for and can't wait to start another one. If you have any problems, pm me. I'm no expert but I'll do my best.

Hello and welcome from South Carolina. Congratulations on your new machine. You will love it. I have a Prodigy and got it after wrestling one quilt through my DSM. Just be patient with yourself. Buy lots of muslin and practice, practice, practice. I have looked at lots of videos on youtube and bought a number of dvd's from Patsy Thompson, Kim Brunner, and Diana Phillips. Can't wait to see your first quilt on your new machine.
