I just found this forum today!

I lurked for about ten minutes and decided to join. This is one active community! Wow!
Hello, my name is Shanelle. I'm 30, I live with my boyfriend in the Indianapolis metro area, and we share our house with a 12-year-old Corgi dog (his) and a 3-legged cat of indeterminate adult age (mine). I work in professional theatre as an electrician and my job is seasonal, which means summers are spent crafting my fingers off! 8-)
I'm still fairly new to quilting, but I'm not new to sewing--I can remember my mom working in her sewing room when I was a wee little thing, and she'd give my siblings and me fabric scraps, buttons and a threaded needle  to keep us out of her hair. I know I made a lot of vests for my Cabbage Patch doll, and I was probably 4 years old when I played with that thing? So I've been sewing at least that long. I just started quilting this past winter (I decided my sister needed a lap quilt for Christmas) and I've been going gangbusters ever since, learning as much as I can. I'm also a pretty serious knitter, and sometimes I play with embroidery. Fabric and fiber make me happy. :) In addition to the crafting, I'm a runner and a healthy-living nut, so I keep myself pretty busy. Some people, when they learn I don't work in the summers, talk about how they'd get so bored and go stir crazy. I just come back with "I might not work, but I have plenty to do!"
I'm looking forward to posting and reading here, and getting inspired by all the amazing work I've seen so far. Here's my latest finished effort, my third quilt ever. It's a crib quilt for a friend who is having her first baby. I gave it to her yesterday at the shower, and she loved it, so I'm happy!
