Hi my name is Glenna and I live in Arkansas....I have been a quilter since 2000...this was my therapy after I got breast cancer...I was invited to a quilting guild and when I saw the most beautiful quilts that these ladies were making I immediately fell in love with the ideal of wanting to learn how to quilt....I have enter several quilts in the county fair and have won several blue, red and white ribbons...I have so many projects that I am working on but I am enjoying every minute that I am able to work on them.
I am looking for some fabric aprox. 7 yards of white background with med or dark blue swirls in it...I found some fabric of Mary Koval which was in austria but they only had less than 3 yards....if anyone see any fabric that they think is something that I could use, please email me at [email protected] put in the subject line, fabric that you want....I don't open any mail that I don't know where it comes from.

My email sent to the address you put in your message has been returned to me.

Try missing fabrics.com

A great place to possibly find fabric you want.

For about 3 yrs. before I actually started quilting in 1999, I watched Fons & Porter's quilting show and thought "Quilting sounds like fun". But that's as far as I got. Finally I decided to take the plunge and as they say -- the rest is history. My husband and I retired later that year and I've been quilting ever since. Wish I hadn't wasted those years just "thinking" about quilting. My quilts range from small wall hangings to full-size quilts, I've even made 4 queen size (in sections) quilts. My husband decided to take over the cooking so that leaves me all the more time to quilt and quilt and quilt some more.

Love hearing from you.

hello pattysue,
Just read your email and was happy to hear from you...I actually started quilting either the end of 1999 or early part of 2000, forgot which one...I had breast cancer in oct. 1996 and after 6 surgeries in the year of '96 and '97 the 4 walls was getting next to me, and going stir crazy so had to do something....was invited to a quilting guild and they had a show n' tell and the most beautiful quilts I had ever seen, fell in love with the ideal of wanting to learn how to quilt just like that..so I joined the guild and started going every month to the meetings and the ladies there was just wonderful and was eager to teach me how to cut with the rotary cutting and using the mat for measuring etc...you know what I mean..well needless to say I am quilting and making beautiful quilts too...I also make alot of baby quilts haven't done any wall hangings ones though. I have given so many baby quilts away its not funny, especially for baby shower gifts....etc. the quilting guild has helped me so much during my healing time and has been good therapy for me...It least kept me sane....haha
my husband ordered me some quilting frames from Graceland quilting frame company and he also have made me some quilting frames...I have a special room just for my quilting..
I will tell you a little about my self....I am married for 44 years. Have 4 children , 14 grand children and 5 great grand children the last two were twins , boy and girl and of course made them baby quilts. they are 5 months old now...I have only one Boxer dog left, we just had to put the girl dog to sleep oct. 23 she was 10 years old and was very sick. we sure hated to haft to do that we love our dogs so much, they are part of this family, their mother died about 4 years ago she was 8 years old....I am a RN and work only PRN (that is as needed) I am a supervisor now at a Nursing home In Farmerville, LA only on weekends. I just started there this past october.. I just lost my mother Oct. 18th which is still very fresh with me.. I had three of my children and their kids over for thanksgiving and they just left to go home this morning and I am trying to clean up the mess that was left....haha Oh yes my husband and I both have retired but went back to work.....as long as we feel good we want to keep doing something to keep us going.. my husband drives for a trucking company. which he has been doing as PRN for over 9 years so when he retired from his regular job they told him if and when you want to go back to driving you have a job, so he did after being off of retirement of 45 days....he got tired of the "Honey do's" he said that they didn't pay enough . haha
so I decided to do the same.....so I also went back to work..
well enough of me, write and tell me about yourself, if you would like.

Bob and I have been married 51 years. Last year for our 50th we took a 6000 mile train trip from Kansas City (where we live) to Chicago, then on to Minneapolis and west across the northern states to Oregon, then down the coast to San Francisco and home across the Rockies. The food was great, the scenery beautiful and the people we met were interesting. (You notice I mentioned "food" first.) We enjoyed ourselves very much.

We have a daughter with 2 sons and a daughter; also a son with a boy and girl. We are fortunate that they both live in the area. Our oldest grandchild (Chris) is just 19 so it will be a while before we have any great-grandchildren.

Where do you live in Arkansas? At the end of World War II we lived in Camden. Don't remember very much of it except we had to cross a one-way bridge to get from where we lived into town.

My husband and I operated a mom-and-pop printing company for almost 30 years before closing shop in 1999. Love retirement. I quilt -- and Bob "plays" with his computers when he's not remodeling the 2 bathrooms and the kitchen or cooking and baking. He's becoming quite a baker.

As soon as our son moved out, I converted his room to my sewing room.
The cork tiles he had stuck on one wall turned out to be useful. I just hang a length of flannel-backed vinyl on it and have a design wall.

I envy you being able to hand quilt. I wouldn't have the patience even if my arthritic fingers would cooperate.

Every fall our quilt guild puts on a quilt show at Crown Center (Hallmark) and members make small quilts to sell, proceeds going to the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund

Sorry to hear about your bout with breast cancer. Okay now? I had by-pass surgery in 1982 and again in 2003. Hope never to have to go through that again.

Well, I've rattled on long enough.

Hi you two. I read your posts and I just had to join to join in your conversations. You two are a hoot and sound like someone I would like to get to know. :P

I started quilting in 99 also, now I am not going to say I am a quilter, because I am still not very good at it but I do try and love what I do. No ribbons or even a little teeny tiny piece of paper, but lots of fun. I am 60 yrs old, ooo did I say that, no I am 30 x2 ah now that feels better. I live in Ca and both hubby and I are retired. I in 99 and I think he retired almost wow 4 yrs ago. Will you look at that. I didn't think anyone could be crazy for that long. hee hee. I started quilting when I retired, but I still don't know how to sew. I could patch things and that was about the wide range of my talent. And then don't make it complicated because I wouldn't be able to do it. But I love it.. And thats about it for me, we have only been married for 14 yrs, live in Fresno, my hubby flies racing pigeons, and I quilt. We go to his pigeon conventions, I take my little feather weight singer and goes and plays with the other flyers. Works out well.

Till later.
