Default Introducing Myself

Hello my name is Peggy; I'm currently new to quilting, and thought I'd come by and see what I can learn from the forum. I have only quilted 2 table runners; and both were way off in measurements; what is it that I'm doing wrong--measuring or cutting?

Welcome from Texas. As with wood working, measure twice and cut once. Quilting is pretty exact in the measuring, cutting and sewing the quarter inch seam. I found this quite different than dress making. Practice helps a lot so keep at it and you will find your way. This board will give you lots of help!

Thank you Linda; I do plan to practice. I thought I'd use old flat sheets or pillowcases to make a "fake" table runner. The one I made last, I asked if I can take it apart and "re-sew" it again. Maybe if I go back and cut all the blocks to the smallest block. Are there any websites or particular tutorials to recommend?

Hello from a fellow newbie. This board is full of tips and wonderful help. There's a whole section on Tutorials, and if you use the search bar on top of the forum if you are looking for a specific thing; such as binding, borders, piecing, etc it's alot easier to find rather than just looking post by post. Also, if you have particular questions, ask the board--they are AWESOME and extremely helpful!
