    Newbie from Northwest Iowa.

I love quilting! My first quilt was a raid of the rag bag. The most common fabric were socks... So I cut off the feet, cut up the side and started sewing. On the floor using my knee on the foot pedal. I wish I knew where that project was.

My most current project is piecing together a large panel to be used as a Roman shade for the west window directly above the computer. Using wildlife panels and their accompanying fabrics. If it goes as well as planned will make more for other windows in the house.

I also have projects in other stages. The one I am quilting by hand is a Medallion Quilt. And the latest top finished is from the book One Block Wonder done with a class at Calico Cupboard - teacher Holly! I want to do another with Christmas fabrics but can't find the fabric pictured in my head to do it with.

Other interests - My 2 girls ages 17 and 13; Arabians; Papillons; hostas and other flowers; and reading.

Look forward to getting to know others with the quilting habit!

    Terry

Hey Esqmommy I live 30 miles from Burlington Iowa. We shop there all t he time and I have lots of family there. It was the first place i ever drove a car with my aunt. It is sort of my second hometown becuase I grew up there as well as in my own hometown. My grandparents lived there and still have aunts and uncles and lots of cousins there. My MIL lives there with my youngest BIL.

Is it small enough that you would have met my niece and her family? Her hubby is a helicopter pilot for the hospital (trauma air lift). My niece works somewhere, but can't think of the name of the place!

    W. Burlington, IA... I think that is over in the middle of the state.. I am clear up in the North West corner.. In my travels, I usually head north (Mpls, MN) or farther into Wisconsin.. Will be in Des Moines over Labor Day weekend for the Huge Arab show, Iowa Gold Star..

Welcome Terry from SE Iowa I have been thinking of making roman shades. I don't feel real confidant to make them. Maybe one of these days!

We used to have 3 Arabians for awhile. My son and his GF bought 2 yearlings several years back. Then my son bought me a 5 yr old mare for Mother's Day but my DH had health issues son and GF broke up and we sold the horses. I do miss them sometimes. Would love to see pictures of yours!! I love the Arabrian breed. They are so smart!

Nice to meet you! I know you will enjoy it here!

Welcome Terry! Sounds like you have a lot of projects going at once, the window treatments sound beautiful. Can't wait to see pictures of your projects!

Rhonda, I am using the book Pieced Roman Shades by Terrell Sundermann. She also has a quite informative website.

Website for pictures of our horses: www.thelakearbians.com

Thanks for all of your welcome comments.. Sitting here listening to Elvis Presley gospel songs as my "church" for today.

    Hugs,
    Terry

Burlington Iowa is on the Mississippi River it is a river town. It is about 30 miles up from the se corner of Iowa. W.Burlington is the newer part of town. That was the one of the focus towns of all the flooding last year. There was a small town just across the river from Burlington in Illinois that was flooded out totally and couldn't be rebuilt. Butllington is built on a lot of steep hills so the flooding didn't do as much damage there as elsewhere.
