Well I guess I should finally introduce myself
#1
Having been forced out of lurkdom by a previous thread, I thought I should formally say Hi. I am a new quilter, having started last fall. I had sewn as a kid, mostly clothing, but I gave it up as too frustrating. I hated spending all of that time working on a garment only to have it complete and not fit right (when you wear four different sizes on one body fit can be a problem).
My love is cross stitch, particularly samplers. I was working on a band sampler (a Jeanette Douglas design) and while stitching a band of log cabin blocks, it occurred to me that - hey the kids are gone and I have a whole lot more time, so why not actually try making a quilt. And the rest is history. I have made two so far, but temporarily back to having no time again (but that's another story), so I get my quilting fix by looking at others. My first two quilts are not great, so I won't show close-ups, but I learned a lot, and am planning several more.
