Hi, I'm from Mississippi and I have never made a quilt but I used to go to the sewing circle at church with my mom. I played under the quilt frames and listened to the women talk as they quilted. When I was old enough, they let me put in a few hand stitches which I'm sure they had to remove later. LOL I have sewn all my life, making clothes and other projects. I have been machine embroidering for over 3 years. I LOVE quilts, even when they become worn. My 2 sisters and I are going to tackle memory quilts made from pieces of our parents' favorite clothing. My mom had plans to make all her children quilts but she become so ill she wasn't able to do so. She bought quilts for all of us (nothing really expensive) but she saw that every grandchild at that time had one, too. She has passed on now but we all remember her love of quilts.
I am so glad I found this Board and I have become addicted to it quickly!
I am a stay at home single lady who just turned 60 (though I don't feel that old in my mind) and I love making projects for my grandchildren. I want to make all of them lap quilts at least if I don't ever make it to the large sizes!!

Just do one quilt at a time and you'll find one day that you've finished a quilt for each grandie! It's gotta be fun, and when you think you've got to do a bunch it gets stressful. Just enjoy the ride!
