new to the board
#1
Hi
I found this board a while ago but have been too busy to look around. There seems to be alot of resources that I could definitely use.
I am making a Queen size sampler with 12" blocks. Converting the patterns I want from smaller of larger sizes to 12" is painful for my poor math skills.

Hi Michelle...welcome! I feel your pain about the pattern sizing. Have you bought a notepad of graph paper and re-drafted the blocks, or are you trying to do it with a computer program? You have my sympathy either way. Tell us where you're having problems and I can guarantee you somebody here will know how to help
I grew up in the Boston area and still have family there. Tho I haven't lived there in many years, I still miss it very much!

Paper drafting, I don't have any quilting software yet. I am working on a square in a square block - I think it is called a thrift block or economy block, but I can't find it anywhere for 12". The design looks so simple but I think I am getting confused with the seam allowance.

Hi Shelly
First of all I'd like to say I feel really welcome here, thank you all.
I rotary cut, because so far all I have been working with is squares and triangles.
I tried a le moyne star with a template but I gave up when none of the diamonds matched together.

I have made this block. So simple. Used a print for the middle block, solid for one of the other colors and a tone on tone for the third color.
