Hello, my name is Rob and I live in Louisiana. I am not a quilter but have long been interested in antique quilts, having several from my family. The one here was given to me by my great aunt, b. 1886, who said it was her mother's, so I know it is old. She called it the railroad quilt because of the appearance of tracks in the pattern. Can anyone help identify it. I appreciate your help.

Rob again. I forgot to add that the stitching is 8/inch. Also, if you look closely the stars in the white spaces are surrounded by four stitched oak leaves.

Rob,
I don't have any answers for you and hope some of the others members of this message board that have more knowledge than I do can provide you with some answers. I thank you for letting us see your special quilt, it's beautiful and the workmanship looks outstanding. May in Jersey

Wow that quilt is something to aspire too. Just maybe if you hang around the Quilting Board long enough you will get bit by the quilting bug. Welcome from Northern Louisiana:)

Thank you all for your replies. Wow, this is an active board. There is no label unfortunately. It was stored in the bottom drawer of a large armoire at my great aunt's house, the same home in which she and my grandmother were born in Mississippi. She was about 85 at the time and in good health, she lived to be 100. I saw the surprise on her face as she hadn't seen it in years, and that was when she said it was her mother's. I can picture Aunt Ella playing on it as a child, imagining a railroad.
