Hello from FL

I joined this group, but don't remember introducing myself... maybe I did - I just don't remember. I began quilting about 10 years ago - technically. Life came and stole my time and I just started quilting again about 2 years ago. I have made tons of quilts. I love it and will always be doing it in one form or another. I have friends, locally, that quilt with me - we make prayer quilts for our church's prayer ministry. I am in the process now of teaching my first 'student' how to quilt - LOVE IT... My husband and I will be going to third world countries to teach aquaponics for feeding the people - I will teach quilting to the nationals so they can earn money!! I love that idea also. I am anxious to see what all there is to see here!!

Aquaponics actually is a mix between aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics - thus aquaponics... the water from the fish is used to water the plants and then back into the fish tanks!! Little loss of water and lots of nutrients for the plants - fish wastes are skimmed off and used in reguar gardening for plants that cannot be grown hydroponically... good system of feeding lots of people... we will eventually move to N FL to set up our own farm.

Welcome Reva,
Glad you could join in. Lots to see here as everyone is kind enough to share their work. It is inspiring! Sounds like you have big plans to do a lot of good work in other countries. That is inspiring also! May God Bless your endeavor.

Debbie,
At this point we're not sure which countries we'll be going to - right now we are working with an orphanage in Haiti. My husband has been there once, plans on going again soon and then I'll go the third time most likely. We will work where the need arises and the funds are available. It's a faith walk!! Love the idea of teaching quilting to impoverished women who can make some money at it!! :D

Sharon,
Thanks for the welcome... we do relax!! We go to our future home in North FL often - we have no house there- right now we stay in a hotel and then go to our property, build a fire and relax there in the quiet... I get to relax each time I pick up a quilting project - - - I read alot... we do keep busy but we do relax also. Our fish stuff will not take up our WHOLE time - we will do alot of traveling, but our kids will be with us and we will all enjoy!!
