Default New and searching for.....

Hello to all you experienced quilters. I am so glad to have found this site, I'm sure all you ladies contain a wealth of information, and I would like to tap into some of that if I may. I'm new to quilting. I haven't even made a quilt yet, but I'm planning to. What I'm looking for is a good site with basic instructions for cutting. Do any of you know or have a link to any such site. I have bought all kinds of magazines and books, but none of them give any basic instructions for cutting. I do have a rotary cutter, but would just like to see a video of some basic cutting routines, if anything like that exists. None of the magainzes and books I Have offer any basic cutting info. I have a lot of Fons and Porter mags. And I love to see their quilts, but need some basic information to get me started. I have a quilt picked out to make. It also has some appliques in it, so I'll get a little experience with that, too. I have bought my material already for the top. I was gonna leave the backing to purchase after the top is done, as I know its gonna take me forever on the top. Thank you all in advance for any replies and links.

This suggestion may be too late but DO NOT choose a pattern with triangles for your first quilt. I did that for my second but it was way too early. Stay with squares and rectangles, something simple to get comfortable with the process. Good luck and welcome to the community. N
