I googled using Minky fabrics in a rag quilt and came up with this group I'm a seasoned sewer, but all the quilts I've made in the past have been cotton squares with traditional batting and backing and hand tied, rather than hand quilted. Now I really like the Minky fabrics. I'd like to make my first one but have read much about not using it for the top side if you want to do a rag quilt. So, I thought I would do a traditional quilt with the seams on the inside, so I can use some minky squares as well. My quesiton is, I'd like to use minky on the back, but not sure how to quilt the 2 sides together--maybe stitch in the ditch? I used to hand tie my quilts, but now my arthritis prohibits me from doing that. Seems like the minky is stretchy and trying to machine stitch the 2 sides together could be tricky. Any advice you can give me would sure be helpful. Thanks.
