I am a nurse in a newborn intensive care unit and was led to this site when I was looking for patterns for isolette covers and positioning aides for our babies. This link was helpful for both the patterns and the wealth of knowledge!
We do not have volunteers to make these much needed items for our unit and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for how to go about recruiting people to do these labors of love for our babies. Do you first ask for donations for the materials then recruit the people to sew? Can anyone who has started a group that makes items for donation give me advice? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hello and Welcome to the board :D:D:D

Maybe contact your local quilt/fabric shops, put up flyers there with what you need. Put on the flyers the dimensions for the isolette covers. Print out patterns for the positioning aides and leaving copies there, or put website addresses on the flyers.

Contact your local quilt guilds too! Most have charity projects, and their members may do some on their own as well.

Also, you can post the need here in the Main section of the board. Please contact our moderator, Patrice J by PM first, to find out if you need to reach "regular" status before you are allowed to ask for donations.
Is there a way that these donations can be mailed to you at the hospital's address?

What area are you from? You can contact local quilt shops or guilds to enlist help. Many on the board make quilts for children's causes. Also, let us know what specifications for these items. Welcome to the Quilting Board from Louisiana.

Welcome, when you say "Positioners" are you talking about those triangular long foam wedges that hold a baby on it's side? Those would be easy to make. What's an isolette cover?
