Good day all

Well hello my name is Ben and here to try and get a few suggestion of what would be helpful for my wife and the new machine I got her for Christmas. It's a Jonome mc6600p. She does a lot of quilting and applicate. And this machine is for sewing only as she has a quilting machine already. What I would like to know is about presser feet, or any thing else that she might need to have to do what she does with out having to make 2 or 3 trips to the store to get this or that. I'm also looking at tables also and like the sew perfect table but have heard mixed reviews about them. Any help or insight would be great for me and I think she would be greatly happy too.

Welcome fom Ontario, Canada. I am a Bernina owner so I can't give you specific help for a Janome. How about a gift card/certificate from the Janome dealer for Christmas so she can choose some accessories herself?

Hello from Michigan. I have that machine, I bought the cording foot, I like to put piping on quilts also. Plus I found I needed extra bobbins!

Abby'smom 12-03-2012 08:48 AM

:) welcome from se TX -- giftcard and extra bobbins sound good!!

Ben 12-03-2012 08:59 AM

Well I called the shop where I'm getting the machine from and ordered the janome table to go with it. A gift card sounds like a good idea how bout amount. How expensive are the accessory for this thing?

Jammin' Jane 12-03-2012 12:12 PM

Oh, Ben, you sound very generous! She will be surprised at any amount on a gift card!
You deserve a great big hug!!! :)

Oh I agree with the extra bobbins! and maybe even a seperate bobbin winder( if she doesn't have one already)... I always wanted one of those.
Rotary cutter blades are always a great gift( check the size first) . We wait too long to change them.
A nice assortment of varigated threads to play with are nice too.

Ben 12-03-2012 02:31 PM

Thanks all for the help. I'm sure ill at the least get a hug from her.

congrats on buying your wife the new machine. I'm from ND and just about any amt on a card is nice. those feet cost more than a person thinks. Check to see what kind of feet are available. might have to only buy one or two at a time.

Welcome from Minnesota and happy quilting :)

Hello Ben, welcome from northern California! The gift card sounds wonderful to me! She will be able to pick out just what she needs. You are a very thoughtful husband!!

I have the same machine that you bought your wife. Hope she loves it - I love mine. My machine was sold with a table from Janome which was wonderful so my machine sets down into it. And I also bought the Sew-EZ table for my Viking - bought it on-line from the manufacture and it was delivered in 2 days. Excellent customer service and the table is very sturdy they cut the insert to the machine you own.

Hi Ben from Australia. Aren't you going to be popular on Christmas morning?
Do you have an unmarried brother I can adopt? Lol.

SueDor 12-04-2012 03:23 AM

Hi from Ohio. Ben, your wife will have a great Christmas no matter how big the gift card is!

Ben 12-04-2012 03:28 AM

Sorry katesnanna my brother is married. But AU is an awesome place I would love to return there one day and just travel. I've been to Perth an loved it there.

You sound like my husband! If I just look at a machine it mysteriously appears in my sewing suite ~ not complaining but when you have 28 machines you can run out of room quite fast.

Your wife will love any gift card for sewing if she loves sewing.

Welcome from Adrian, MI

Do you give lessons to other husbands :) because my husband of 32 years wouldn't even think about getting me a machine or quilting accessories as a gift! Although, I still love him...ha. If, your wife has talked about a table for the machine & she has the space I think that would be a great gift. Your should stop by the shop where you bought the machine & talk with the sales person. Good luck. Be sure to let us know what you got her & her reaction.

Ben 12-06-2012 02:20 PM

I have ordered the table since they didn't have one at the store. I hope it will be in by Christmas.

Welcome from Rhode Island, maybe you and your wife will both quilt together.Awesome.

Ben 12-08-2012 07:49 AM

Honestly we started quilting together almost 20yrs ago them it fell to the side due to our limited income and in the past 5 years we've picked it back up and she has been pretty serious about it. She's in a quilting club and they make and donate blankets for the local fire and rescue department for an auction that they have. Ill have to upload some pics to show some of her work space and quilts

Ben 12-08-2012 09:59 AM

I uploaded some pics fell free to check them out

Well ladies she really likes her machine. She's already starting on a new king size quilt for her step mom. And has it about 2/3 the way done. I wasn't really to impressed with the quality of the table but she seems to be alright with it. Well thank you all for your help she did have a great morning.
