Welcome Gramma Corinne,

Love your attitude that it's never too late to learn something new. I began quilting about 12 years ago in my early 60's and love it - especially since it means I can make special gifts for family and friends. Latest project is to make twin to full size quilts for my older grandkids. Two made and delivered so far and 3 more in the works. Have to put them aside right now as I must make a blue quilt for my just born first great grandson. Did make a small generic one for the baby shower but now a larger boy one is on the top of my To Do List. May in Jersey

Where are you from? Why are you hiding? I started my addiction to quilting at an older age also even though I had piddled some along the way but really knew nothing about the supplies and advice available. Sure helps. Good Luck

A Warm welcome from New York. Lots of information online for free patterns such as a nine patch, rail fence to get you started. Go to the "search" button and type in these titles to view pictures. Congrats on #9 great grandbaby.

The 1st one I started with was a rag quilt because it is finished when you are done sewing it together. You can purchase some very nice flannel for both sides. Just do some planning. Like do you have rotary cutter? Do you have a square ruler? Set your machine up for sewing large things. machine on a table with another table to your left in an L shape. It will help when you have to push a big quilt thru a little machine.
