hi, i'm gramma corinne. there was already a corinne, so i had to make a change. one of my grand-daughters asked me if i would make her a quilt about 10 months ago, naturally i said yes. due to illnss it has been poseponed. i'm ready to tackle it now, i think. but first i need to make her a baby boy one for matthew , who is due november 28. i have done almost every craft i've ever seen, at least once. i started sewing on my grammas' treadle machine at 3 or 4 hemming sugar sacks to make work-handkerchiefs for my granpa, and i've been sewing ever since. i love sewing, BUT, i have never made a quilt. any suggestions will be appreciated. this is great-grand #8, #9 due dec.5th. thank you for tolerating my long-windiness. i can't wait to get started.

Hello and welcome from the UK. I came late to quilting too...aged 63. Also remember sewing with my grandma. There is lots of friendly help and support here for us newbies and I'm sure that you will get pleny of suggestions for patterns. How lovely to have grandchildren to sew for.

I did a search on this board. Lots of information and ideas.
My suggestions for a first quilt is a 9 patch, rail fence, 4 patch. (there are many others that will work). Enjoy the process:)
