Hello from Minnesota!
Hi, I'm from Minnesota. I'm brand new to quilting. I'm working on my very first quilt, so any tips on how to start would be very much appreciated! I started cross stitching recently, and I fell in love with it, so I thought I would also branch out to quilting. I'm hoping to find lots of great information and fellow quilters here!

Hi, Betsy! Welcome from coastal central Florida. You need to learn to use the Search function - then you can find just about anything. YouTube is a great resource. You might want to try the free Craftsy (www.craftsy.com) Block of the Month (BOM) - just start at the beginning and catch up as you can.

Welcome! Start with a smaller quilted project so you won't become discouraged. How about a pillow top, table runner or small wall hanging? Look for patterns on line.

Howdy and welcome, from Texas! I learned to sew, as a child, but when I started quilting, I did mostly smaller craft items (tree skirt, etc.), to get the feel of the technique. I also made lots of different blocks (just something I enjoy). By starting small, you can learn the art, without feeling overwhelmed; it's also easy to just start over, if something goes crazy and ends up completely lop-sided . . . not that I'm admitting anything! Just get some pretty but inexpensive fabric and have fun! Start simple and learn as you go.
BTW, I'm still in the "learning" phase, with quilting . . . but having a blast! My work is far from perfect but no one is judging. :D |
