Hello from Northern Ontario Canada

I am a beginner quilter and am working on my second quilt ... a hockey quilt for my grandson ... but it has turned out to be a square rather than a rectangle and I need to find out how to lengthen the quilt to fit a double(full) sized bed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Is it a quilt top or already quilted? If it is a top, an extra border is usually my solution. You can add a nice wide piece to the top and appliqué the team's name or your grandson's name on it. If it is already quilted, you can add a section quilt as you go style.

Welcome to the QB from the SHO-ME state - Missouri. Can you "show us" what you have done so far? Then maybe we can figure something out for you.

Welcome from a Canadian in Minnesota! To answer your question, I usually start adding borders to lengthen a quilt. Perhaps a 2.5" border on the sides with a 5" border on the ends. Then a very narrow border all the way around, then another 2.5" on the sides with 5" on the ends to keep the symmetry. Post a photo - we'd love to see it.
