Hello
My name is Deb . I have started to learn about quilting . I found this board today and thought how better to learn . I have so many questions , but will read as much as I can . My first quilts are 4 inch sqares and low and behold , they are not even . I did not cut my own squares , I bought them , so I am thinking maybe some just weren't cut the right size . Then my sewing skills are good , but somehow the seams look like they are all the same , but , I haven't measured them .
Can I cut it down where it does not come out even and it still look ok ? Deb |

Welcome from Adrian, MI
ps always check the size of the blocks before you start:thumbup: |
Welcome from Florida!
It depends what you have sewn together so far. If you've simply sewn 4 pieces together (2 x 2), you still have a shot at squaring them up and still being able to match your seams. |

Hi Deb- Welcome from Minnesota!
|
Welcome from NM. I have been there but the squares were cut by me. CeeTee's advise is great. I was able to square some of my squares but learned all about the numbers game lol
|
Thanks so much for the warm welcome . Uh oh , what is the number game ? These are twin size and top is finished but definitely not even . Should I cut to make even , I guess that would be the best senario . LOL I am learning . I also wanted to know if any of you use a blanket , instead of batting ? I also want to use a plain sheet for the back , but wanted to iron on transfers of family pictures ? Has anyone done this ?
Have a wonderful day . Deb |
Hi Deb!
Welcome from Minnesota! Just square up each time you sew 4 blocks together! (use the SAME measurement each time you square them) Good luck! You can always get help on this board!!! :) |
