Hello from Thurmont, MD!

My name is Annie, and I've been quilting for 12 years. I started quilting to get me through quitting smoking. Each pack of cigarettes was costing me a fat quarter. Each time I had a craving and didn't smoke I bought a fat quarter! It worked! I have beautiful quilts and I don't smoke! I'm 50 years old (right now--but I think I won't change that. Ever.) About 2 years ago I moved my sewing room from my basement to a bedroom vacated by my son for a bigger room. It has two windows, from which I watch the birds at the feeders as I sew. Life.Is.Grand. I learned to quilt from my mother-in-law, who is one of my best friends, and now I'm taking the same walk with my niece. My favorite part of the process is the machine quilting--I have a Bernina Virtuosa 155, and I love it. My dream is to purchase a long arm quilter and do that for a living. It'll be a while yet. Hello to everyone!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Congratulations on quitting smoking! Buying a fat quarter instead of a pack of cigarettes was the best reward system EVER.
