I've been a lurker on this board for awhile now- just gathering tidbits from all of you. Decided to join in. You all seem so supportive of newbies.
I've been sewing since I was 8 years old, made my first dress with the help of my mom. But the thought of making quilts always intimidated me. I don't know why.
Recently a friend of mine texted me a picture of a beautiful quilt and asked my opinion on the color of her backing. I immediately fired back my opinion with the comment that her quilt top was absolutely gorgeous. The next day I told her she inspired me and I texted her pictures of my newly purchased fabrics for my very first quilt! It's a simple framed 9 patch. I'm very proud of it. It's only a top now and I'm sending it to the quilter to be machine done. I don't have the know-how yet to do anything else and I'm so proud of it that I don't want it messed up by me. So...... mostly, it'll be "my" work.
Want to hear something funny about my friends quilt? She was asking my opinion on the backing because it was to be a present for my husband and my 30th anniversary!! Hilarious, huh!? Now, since she saw my quilt top she's not giving me hers! haha! We had a big laugh over that one!
