HI! I'm Jen!

I started quilting about nine years ago, as just something I wanted to be able to say "I've done that" and then try something else. I started with several fat quarter bundles, a pair of scissors and a sewing machine. The first one I made was for my grandpa. The patches were rectangular and NOT uniform, the seam lines weren't straight in the piecing, and I'd never even heard of "stitch in the ditch"... I had NO clue what I was doing. If it was still around I would post a picture. Grandpa loved it, but looking back on that first attempt I'm pretty embarrassed about that quilt.

Anyway, this activity I just wanted to say I'd done once has now turned into a full-on addiction. And I have to say, I'm still not very much better at it than I was to begin with. It's only been in the last couple years that I've actually started to do my homework and learn the proper techniques. My corners still don't line up with any degree of reliability, I have a hard time making my blocks come out the right size... honestly I can't understand how I could be so hooked on an activity that is so intensely frustrating!!!! So I went looking for other people who might understand that confusion... and I ended up here! I've already learned a lot from reading what members have posted! What a great site!

Your story is a lot like many of us. I'm self taught and am unlearning some of my skills to do it a better way. Bottom Line.......there are no rules. No police, it's your quilt, your fabric and do as you want. Saying that, if you get stumped ask here. We are here to help and encourage you. Welcome from Louisiana!

Hello from Dallas tx. And don't be embarrased of your quilting. It was as good as you could do at the t ime. I was told that by an art teacher once and it stuck with me. Just enjoy yourself.

Hi Jen

Greetings from ND - happy quilting. I agree with another lady who said "it's your quilt - do as you like".
