How do you do?

My name is Renna, and I live in northeast Texas. I'm not a quilter...yet! I was given an older Brother PC8500D sewing/embroidery machine. I'm having trouble making heads or tails of what to do with it. My limited sewing experience has been on a very old, portable Singer my mom gave me years ago. In my search to find out something about this Brother I've received, I stumbled across this website. Since I do plan to learn about quilting, I thought it looked like an informative, and friendly place to glean some knowledge, and maybe some friends! :)

It did come with a manual. Being a visual learner, I don't learn so well by reading; I learn by seeing. I have figured out quite a bit more about the machine, though, since posting my introduction. Playing around with it revealed a lot to me. I've not tried the embroidery features yet. I wanted to learn the simple sewing features first, which I did, finally, last night.
