Howdy! I am new to this forum and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.
I am Missy and I live in South Dakota. I have been quilting for more than 15 years. I taught my mother how to quilt about two years ago. It is really fun watching someone learn to do something like quilting. We spend about 2 days a week quilting together. It is always fun. I have two daughters, 18 and 19 yrs old. My 18 yo is about to be deployed to Iraq. She is in the army. I am very interested in some different ideas for a patriotic quilt for her for when she comes home from overseas. Any ideas? Thank you for having such a great place to gather. Take care! Missy |

She really liked the disappearing nine patch but I really wanted to find something different. I am going to do some browing on quilterscache.com.
I really appreciate all of the wonderful things people say about my daughter's service. It really is heart warming. I definitely feel that she is an amazing person to take on such a huge responsibility. It was her dream to enlist in the army. She makes me proud. |

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!
Thank you for your daughter's service. My daughter returned last September from a year in Iraq with the Army. Before that she spend a year in Afghanistan (glad she was there in that order!) Any quilt that you make her would be loved. I sent one over to mine for each deployment and she really enjoyed having a touch of home in her "Hootch". You could just find some Red white and Blue fabrics and make something or find a pattern with stars in it. I have a "Family Pride" quilt that I made during her first deployment that I plan on giving her when they get into their first home, (hopefully next month) (She married in June 08 and deployed in August the same year) |
