I love Judy Niemeyer Classes

Hello Everyone, my name is Shirley and I live in South Texas. I have been a member of this board for a long time and love it but this is the first time I have posted anything,

My favorite quilt shop in this area is Pinwheels & Posies in Dickinson and I have recently been taking Judy Niemeyer Paper Piecing Classes and I think my brain has finally adjusted and almost have the hang of it. Most recently(last week) I took a beginner paper piecing class and it was the best class I have ever taken. On the 4th Wednesday of the month they have Niemeyer Wednesday. Denise, the certified instructor is there and you can take your project and she is there to help you. I have never seen anything posted abou this subject and I am wondering if any of you are also interested in paper piecing and what's your favorite pattern. Last year I jumped in and took the Wedding Ring Star but have not gotten very far so when this class came up i jumped right on it in hopes it would help and it definately has. I will be going tomorrow, it's 1-7 and you can stay as long as you want. The name of this pattern is Crackers and it's so cute. It's made with a layer cake. There are two different layouts and enough papers in one pattern both.

So come on guys and let's find out if there are other paper piecing addicts in this group. Surely I can't be the only one, if so you don't know what your missing so get crackin.

So happy that you decided to post, finally. Everyone has so much to offer - and already look what topic you have brought up. I love paper piecing - of course I get all of my points with that method, lol. I also enjoy the process of it. I haven't specifically did any "Judy Niemeyer" patterns or techniques.

Hi from California!

I am hand quilting my Judy Neimeyer quilt -- originally a 50" wall hanging -- Feathered star -- I added several borders and it is now 100 X 100.

I love the finished product but I'm not sure I would ever do another of hers. I love PP and have a lot of wall hangings, but this was quite different to do.

I have almost 1/4 of the borders done -- the center is done and as soon as I finish in a few more days, I will post a pix.

You are very fortunate to have on-going help -- I had 2 all day classes, with 2 weeks between. I think her designs are fabulous.

Welcome from OHIO! I love paper piecing, but I also love traditional quilting. I go back and forth. I've never heard of Judy Niemeyer, but I have lots of Carol Doak's patterns and books and I really like them. I have so many "favorites" I can't name them all. I'm working on a Storm at Sea Quilt right now.

Count me in as a PPer. I have done many projects w/ PP and some time in the near future I will post my very first PP project that I started over 10 years ago. I decided to finish all my ufos and his is on the list. It is a tea cup pattern and I am excited to be finishing it, at last! I don't even remember why I stopped working on it.
peace

Judy Niemeyer designs are gorgeous! I have her tree skirt pattern. Haven't done anything with it yet. I bought it because it was a smaller project, so hopefully more do-able for someone trying to figure it out on their own. What a great resource a certified instructor would be. Please post photos of your project - would love to see it.

the one thing I learned from the lessons and struggling with the directions -- I think it was 35 pages !!! do EXACTLY as the directions say. don't skip anything!!! It really paid off to go slowly and just follow the directions. I am hand quilting and it makes it so much easier that I slavishly pressed the seams exactly as she said.

The pix is before I sandwiched and started to quilt. This was at show and tell at my quilt group in WA
