Hello - may name is Joy and I enjoy quilting. I have no desire to make a big bed quilt at this time, but I do enjoy making wall hangings and table runners, etc. I also have a great Lazy Girl quilted purse pattern and have made several purses.

I really enjoy applique quilting. I use my Bernina to do the blanket stitch for all of my appliques.

I've never any message boards so this is new for me.

Hello Joy, Saw in your introduction that you have a Bernina. So do I & I just love it :-) Right now I am working on a queen size quilt. Don't think I'll go that big again. Like you, I really like working on smaller things. My Bernina is the 730 - the one you can also embroidary with, but I have been enjoying the quilting so much, I have not even tried to embroidary yet ! If you have any good tips let me know.

Hi Gail - my Bernina is the Virtuoso 160. It is several years old. It has the knee contol for quilting which is so handy for appliqueing (?).

Will you hand quilt your queen size quilt or do it by machine? If by machine, how do you handle all the bulk?

I solve the problem of making larger than full size quilts by making them in sections, quilting and then adding the borders. For a really neat large quilt, try "Reversible Quilts" by Sharon Pederson. Not only do you end up with a large quilt but it's a great way to use some of your scraps.

I am new to this web site but found it very interesting. I read your posting about makeing large quilts in sections and then joining them together. What is your secret for doing this. I have made to king size quilts and hand quilted them but it sure is a handful of fabric to handle Thanks for any help
