Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking for a while and have decided to join the fun, this group seems to be so much fun! I'm a critical care nurse vampire (night shift!) and bounce between quilting & genealogy. I struggled with what I should use as an avatar, one of my furbabies or a quilt. Everyone here is so talented I'm hesitant to show any of my stuff, but I decided to use my best quilt. My avatar is the first full-sized quilt I made. I designed & made it for my grandfather's 90'th birthday. He was from Ohio, hence the star, and the outer blocks are autograph blocks that friends and family signed. I had a "math headache" for months!!

I have friends and family all over the world, and it's neat to see where everyone is from.

Welcome from NE CA. Glad you decided to speak up and introduce yourself. There's lots of friendly, talented people on board who will help in any way they can, just ask. Your quilt in your avatar looks very good.

Hi there! I am a night owl myself, but am forced to be a member of the day world because of my kids. LOL!

I think your quilt is just as pretty as any I have seen! Don't put yourself down- you are talented! :0)

(Oh, and my mom does genealogy and quilting, too.)

Hi Loretta,

Sounds great to me! I haven't figured out how to PM yet. I wanted a heart in the middle of my Ohio Star, so although you can't tell in the tiny photo, the star is made up of log-cabin blocks, and there are family photos all around the star.

I have TONS of Ohio genealogy reference books and materials if you need any lookups, plus we have one of the three biggest genealogy libraries here in Houston.

Thanks for the reply!
