Hi all, I just invested in a sew-embroider machine by baby lock . I have never done much sewing, but want to start making quilts . I have all the time to devote but no supplies. If you all can let me know where to start it would be great.

My store has lots of classes I just took one on making a table runner and napkins that when folded look like a x-mass tree. Now I want a surge machine......

Howdy and welcome from Kentucky. I would highly recommend that you keep taking as many classes as possible. I am a newbie as well. I took my first class in July and just fell in love. Since then I have taken like 5 or 6 other classes!! I learn SO much with a teacher and other quilters around. It's amazing how much they teach me and alot of it totally unrelated to the class...like "my machine messed up" everytime I refilled the bobbin....NOT! Wasn't the machine, it was me doing the bobbin wrong. Another student in one of my classes caught it. Also, the folks on here are SOOOO helpful. Good luck!! :D

Welcome from just up the road a bit!

My suggestion is to start small. Don't jump into buying lots of expensive equipment until you see how you like the process of quilting.

Keep taking classes. Go to http://www.quilterscache.com/ and find a block you want to try out.
