New here from the redwoods

My name is Melinda, and I started quilting 25 years ago. I've sewn since I was 12, and I thought quilting would be a piece of cake.... Famous Last Words, etc.! I entered my Very First Quilt in the county fair one summer (the category was your First/Worst Quilt, or some such) and was able to see just how far I've actually come since then. My output is very small so far, as they all get given away. I have one in progress that will be for my own bed. One smalllll problem - I had a queen bed when I started it, and now that it's nearly finished, I have down sized to a double. I can't possibly lose any of my quilt! I'll just have to put the bed up on stilts! That'll work, won't it?! Meantime, I'm working on a Christmas quilt for DD#2, and just finished baby quilt # 4 or 5, I can't remember!

I also love to garden and read and bake. I have 3 grown daughters, and a husband, and 2 cats who LOVE to help me sew...<label for="rb_iconid_6">http://www.quiltingboard.com/images/icons/icon6.png</label> I just have to make sure nobody's allergic to cats...

Hi Melinda and welcome to the board. Just get a set of bed lifts and it should be fine. You may have to take a running jump to get on the bed but what the heck! :D

Hello Melinda, welcome from Oklahoma!

why do you have to lift the bed. I make all my big quilts to hang to the floor. That is what all my kids wanted and that way it is big enough to cover 2 butts in the bed. Namely daughter and son in law or DH and me. I made one for my sister that hangs to the floor and she just loves it.

Sorry forgot to say HI from North Dakota where the cold wind blows. Snow snow and more snow. I could have lived with what I started out with which wasn't much. Amy

Do your cats help? My cats like to lie on my cutting board.....as I'm trying to cut fabric. I wind up cutting towards me so that I don't snip a tail!
