My grandmother in the 1940's made a quilt for me of little girls in bonnets. I remember the background being yellow. I loved the quilt and her. Now I am trying to find/buy a quilt that resembles the one she made for me or matches what is in my mind's eye. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have inherited any of her sewing skills. So, I don't know where to look or how to go about purchasing the quilt.

This is very important to me and I feel very lucky to have found others who appreciate the sweet beauty of those old quilts.
If you can direct me, I would be most thankful. Wendy of NYC

Probably it was a Sunbonnet Sue. I also had one when I was small.

Could this be Sun Bonnet Sue? She's very popular with kids, and grown up kids too.

There's also an older version, with more old fashioned ladies but still more or less on the SBS form.

Hello and welcome from central Alabama. I'll bet it was a Sunbonnet Sue quilt. There are several on e-bay, but I didn't see one with yellow.

Yes, I think it is Sun bonnet Sue - when I described it to a quilter at a craft fair, she called it SBS. How do I go about seeing quilts that would be for sale? Thanks so much.

Thank you for the idea of commissioning a quilt. I know what eBay is, though I have never used it. But what is etsy?
Thanks again.
