From Oklahoma
 

Hi everyone- I have visited here many times but have never signed in to introduce myself. I am mother to 3 grandmother to 11 and greatgrandmother to 5. I am really not that old. LOL
I have done garment sewing for the family most of my motherhood but at this stage in life I find they would rather wear a Tshirt than have something from the sewing room. Not to say I don't occasionally do sewing for them.
I have found the world of quilting now and really like it. I am seriously trying to perfect my skills. I have joined the women of my church where we have a prayer-quilt ministry. We meet every Thursday and work to process these quilts that are for people who are terminally ill or have experienced loss in their life.When they are designated for someone they are placed in our church foyer with ribbons attached and ask members to say a prayer for the person and tie a knot in the ribbon. I really like this group and we all are trying to learn from each other. We have great support from our church and two ladies who have taken the lead in this. Occasionally (usually once a year) we might travel to an out of town quilt shop to see new fabrics and notions.
At home I always have a quilt in process.
I have fallen in love with the vintage sewing machines and have added those to my newer computerized machines. I am very greatful for this website and the help I find here.

Welcome! I'm a Texan, but grew up in Oklahoma. What area are you in? I have friends ALL over the state. I grew up performing with an organization called Oklahoma Kids, which afforded me the chance to visit all kinds of places all over the state, from the big cities to places like Wakita, OK, where there is one flashing stop light :) I'm from Bartlesville originally, then lived in Tulsa before coming to Texas.

Jennb- OKC but I do know where Wakita is. lol I remember the OK Kids.

I took dance for many years at Applause Studios, which used to be at 57th and Western. I still have alot of friends in the OKC area. One of the "kids" owns Tapwerks down in Bricktown. Did you ever see one of our shows?
