Sam you are young, I started at 21yrs. of age, and like you joined Manitoba prairie quild, got the looks I was so so scared, shaking my 1st meeting was minutes of mtg and election.. I returned home, crying never to return to this rechud club... Just before the 2nd mtg. the executive committee called and offered a ride, promising they would walk me through and I have been grateful to those wonderful women, who adopted me as their own... 25+ yrs later I'm still in the guild. You will find great adventures and great people... According to your pictures you are far far better than what I make... BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU MAKE AND YOUR A GOOD QUILTER... The SK quild members will get to love you and accept you very quickly, you will be their challenge.

OMG you're good for 1st attempts. You're story sounded a lot like mine in the debut.. From Manitoba prairie flatland, threw myself into sewing on mothers old elna machine with disks that would break and go again.. Swearing wasn't a word in our house.. But one thing let to another.. while the boys my age were out cruising the town streets for girls and alchohol which at 28yrs landed them in hospital fighting for their life.. When my family now gives me issues, I go to my sewing studio and forget they were even born.. I've made huge inventories of children clothes to sell and quilts to donate.. Love it love it, I repair my clothes and 55+ now our body takes it's own direction so I can find/make my own.

That was a fun read. Once you realized the water of sewing wouldn't drown you, you sure jumped into the deep end! It's funny how many of us started with what would be considered a "hard" first quilt pattern (if we even used one--I didn't) , only because we didn't know any better!

Welcome from Maryland.
