Somewhat new to quilting

Hi! I'm Tessa. I'm 33, a military wife and mom of 2 wonderful boys. For years, I have enjoyed making the occasional quilt. I had a Love/hate relationship with my sewing machine (Simplicity American Spirit, I think) but still I persisted. After many fights and even a few tears, I decided that I could do better and we parted ways. I thought it best to split before things got really ugly.
I ordered and received my Brother CS6000i quite recently and so far, I'm pretty happy. It doesn't do embroidery, serging, knitting, cooking or any of the fancy stuff but it'll do for now. If this new machine works out, I plan to upgrade.
I would like to explore different and easy ways to produce pretty quilts for gifts and maybe even a couple to sell.
I tend to lurk a little bit but I'll participate when I can. I will start right now by checking out some of the blocks you all have made :)

Hi Tessa, and welcome to the board! You will find lots of friendly folks here! :)
For block ideas, perhaps check out www.quilterscache.com. She's got lots of block patterns available-for free.
Another site is www.quiltville.com. Fun and easy patterns, also mysteries.
Enjoy your day! :)

Welcome Tessa. I understand the love hate thing with a sewing machine -- hopefully the new machine works for you.
Look on this site at the pictures for inspiration -- some of the quilts are "wow how did they make that" and some are "cool, I know I can do that". You only need a few basic tools, some fabric and you can have a lot of fum.

Quilterscache has been my go to site for years -- she rates the difficulty of the blocks and her directions are very clear. The internet is a great resource. If you want to learn how to do something or find (say) a tote pattern to play with you can find free ones.

Look forward to hearing from you.
