I tried Ricky Tims flying geese measurements and I got it to work. So went back and got the measurements of the 5 min block....Well, it still doesn't work, the fold up edge still is 1/4" short. I really like this block, so please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong....

That woman is brilliant. How can she keep thinking up these things? I can't wait to try it!

Oops, just read that Ricky Timms has taught it as well. So they are both brilliant, in my book.

To the poster who had trouble with the block -- I had some trouble with *some* of my ten-minute blocks, so I understand your frustration, but I don't know why some worked and some didn't so I'm afraid I'm no help to you!

I cut my three blocks 5" x 7". This did not work. Has to be something in the math! I know we must have a math pro on the board!!

Hmmm, I got the impression from the clip that the size didn't matter as long as all three blocks were the same size. Weird...

OK, I tried the 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 sq. and 2- 4 1/2x 8 1/2. Well, that didn't work at all. This really has me stumped. It sounded so easy on her video. So I guess I'm just not getting something....I sure hope someone else can figure it out....

I worked it out - the rectangles are all the same size - to make a square, the length of the rectangles need to be the finished length of the square plus 1/2", the width needs to be 1/2 the finished width plus 1/2", so a 4" finished square needs to be 2.5x4.5", a 5" finished square needs to be 3"x5.5", a 6" square needs to be 3.5"x6.5", an 8" square needs to be 4.5"x8.5", 9" needs to be 5"x9.5", 10" needs to be 5.5"x10.5", a 12" square needs to be 6.5"x12.5"- Just make sure you fold the middle square in half and catch it in the seam like she shows in the video - really easy peasy, don't need to overthink it.
