Default 72" wide Felt Fabric vs batting for lightweight quilts?

In Hobby Lobby this morning was looking at pre-quilted fabric., next to it was a large amount of felting fabric., as I was feeling it and touching it wondered....has anyone used this fabric instead of batting for lightweight quilts? I think it wouldn't pucker so much (I have a little problem with that), and might work nicely due to its width. Any thoughts about this will be greatly appreciated. Am thinking about trying it.

I would wonder how it would wash up. Would it shred and bunch... depending on the quilting, I don't think you could do more than 4" spacing.. Just a thought

I have machine washed regular felt(not wool felt) and it washed great. You won't get much 'loft', but it should make a nice light weight batting. Be sure NOT to use colored felt, it will bleed.
