Returned from the show last night. The Linda Roy Best of Show quilt was just one of many quilts that was featured in an exhibit they did of her work over the years. She is a relatively young woman and has only been quilting since about 1989. They were extraordinarily detailed and everything is done by hand in minute stitching. They were placed in chronological order and it was fun to see the progress she has made in her quilting over the years and the elements she has added to her quilting style. She truly has a God given talent. I am in awe of her work.
The Leah Day snowflake quilt and ribbon winner was gorgeous. I have followed her blog and admired her work and it was a delight to see this up close. I have no idea how she manages to stay exactly on top of her previous stitching but truly admire her talent and thank her for her generosity in offering her tutorials and encouragement to those who are attempting to learn FMQ.
There were so many outstanding quilts that didn't even win ribbons. It was a wonderful day of quilts and shared interests with new acquaintances. I am sad that the quilt show will have a different location next year as this is as close as it gets for me and I don't get a lot of opportunities to travel to quilt shows outside my area. Glad to have been able to go this year. Ann in TN
