For anyone interested - there is a lovely lady who runs Warming Families. She has been collecting crocheted granny squares and/or completed lapghans for wounded soldiers. (she puts the squares together herself) The other day I posted about that need. She received a letter from one of the larger military bases saying they have, on average, 42 babies born every week and are in desperate need of blankets and hats. If you're interested, here is her website. (I'm not affiliated in anyway nor do I profit in any way. I just think it's such a worthwhile thing to do)

Looks like all the items are for knit or crochet. Does she take quilted blankets?

I'm sure she does. (I hope so - I just spent last night making 6 flannel receiving blankets!) She's a knitter/crocheter, so I think that's why - but I'll check it out and post a reply.

Yes. The miltary hospital will take any and all blankets/quilts. They want them to be at least 36" square. I'm working on flannel receiving blankets and was told that's perfectly acceptable. Hats should be newborn size. This is an ongoing project, so keep it in mind. If we all sent just one blanket and 1 hat - WOW! It's a small thing we can do to help our military. Also, the granny squares/lapghans is an ongoing project too - so keep that in mind if you have a little time and a little leftover yarn. Squares can be 3, 4, 5 or 12 rows. Thanks for your interest.

I was wondering the same thing and like to do flannel blankets. Crocheting takes too long since I work during the day. Would you please let me know also?

    Thanks,
