They have several patterns for download at www.quiltville.com that will inspire and help with several techniques. Just go to the free downloads page and have fun.

Oooooh, yes. Good one, Sandra! I love the whole McCall's quilting magazine website. Several publications represented there - including QuiltersVillage. It's the first place I go for inspiration.

I'm pretty ticked off that they pulled their thousands of free quilting motifs from the Quiltmaker site, though. After years of giving them away, they have put them into books and are rolling out a CD collection, one volume at a time. The prices are reasonable, considering the number of motifs in each volume, but i liked 'em better when they was fer nuthin'. And i have to buy a big bunch just to get the ones I really want. Oh well ... that's what i get for having been too lazy to download ALL of them while they were free. I had years of time to do it.

Still, that web complex will remain a great place to go for inspiration, information, and a still-healthy collection of free stuff.

I also want to add this copy of a post from a different thread:

yes ... looked like a nice selection. AND they have some nifty free patterns that applique devotees will just love. with a very generous and clearly stated copyright allowance:

"A word about copyright

of each finished item to sell.Teachers have my permission to use patterns for teaching classes No mass producing of patterns or finished items is permitted.."

Guess I'd better get busy organizing my fabric site bookmarks so they'll be easier to sift through. I think a lot of them have figured out they can benefit from all the low-to-mid-income quilters being driven out into the cold, cruel world by WalMart, Hancock's, and Joann's. It's getting a little easier to find things for under $5 per yard - including shipping. I'm still a bit chicken about it. Will the color be right? Will it be a value? (I don't mind paying $2 for fabric I know is worth only $2. It will tick me off to pay $5 for fabric I know is worth only $2.)

What the heck. it's still cheaper than a trip to Vegas ... right?
;-)

Well! that turned into 3 days worth of posts in one, now, didn't it?

Sandra, I went to enter a usable link in your post, and had the wrong one in paste. Will you please reenter it, so I can stop looking like a total fool? Thanks, I really sometimes know what I'm doing.
