wow..I was thinking about this: how can I get my table that I have to be even with the sewing machine? thank goodness I read this board first !LOL I was gonna ask DH if he felt like a new project for me <batting eyes!LOL>. I like that set up,may have to have another table in the "room" for the sewing machines. Hmmmm.. Thanks for sharing !!

My husband made me this table for quilting and sewing. It is great because it folds up and out of the way. It is large enough to handle a good size quilt without any tension issues. It is also inexpensive to make.

One of the newer office desks might work too.

Wow, thanks I love that table!
I was surfing the Internet and found this link for plans to make your own custom sewing table. It looks very easy to do and CHEAP. So I am off the the local thrift store today to see if I can find a cheap table to customize. I think that it is covered with slick vinyl it would work well for FMQ.

My son just did mine table like this recently and it is wonderful. Mine is a dining table that I bought from my daughter for 20 dollars around 12 years ago. Used it in the kitchen for a good many years and last yr. got a different one fir there so I set my machine up on it and have been using it that way because of the space but could not sew long because of back and shoulders. Since he fixed this for me I can actually set at the machine for 2 or 3 hours at a time. Of course that does involve pressing and etc. the level is great and looks so nice. Will post picture later.
