The sock monkey has always been a favorite of mine. I am happy to see that he is making a come back. I went to a quilt show yesterday and bought a pattern to make a Christmas reindeer from the red heel socks. The pattern appeared in a 1977 Decorating and Craft Ideas magazine. I had not seen the pattern for the reindeer before. Have any of you made the reindeer?

I have a co-worker that collects monkeys. I bought her a sock monkey key chain and had to explain what a sock monkey was. Being older then dirt has it's benefits.

Have been making sock monkeys for forty years; have made reindeer, too, with the sock for the head and Christmas fabric for leaves to form a frame around the head. Actually won first place at the county fair for the reindeer. Now I have a stash of sock monkey prints for my granddaughter's monkey quilt. I am also glad the sock monkey is making a come-back.
