I have been looking for an easy way to make flying geese. The Eleanor Burns technique does not appeal to me. I cannot seem to get the smaller square centered on top of the larger square. I also do not want to be limited to the size of of the Flying Geese Rulers. While surfing the web, I came across the following:

Connecting threads has a ruler for this so you don't have to do the math to get the squares the right size. Works pretty well for me.
