Default Fabric Weaving

I started watching this video this morning, and it looks like a really neat idea to do something new.

If you watch it and can make out what she said she is using to make the fabric stick I'd like to know. I'm guessing it's the same thing as Heat and Bond Lite or Pellon.

Oh, I am loving this one! My head is spinning with the possibilities. This one goes from basic to quite arty. Thanks for the link!

Saw this technique about 10 years ago? I always wondered what to do with the raw edges. They would be fine in a wallhanging but do you blanket stitch the edges in a quilt? If not, I can see the intersections opening up a bit on a quilt with the batt showing through when the quilt is laundered.

I learned this technique 10 years or so ago also. I saw it in a wearables class. For a jacket that wasn't going to be washed there was no problem with just fusing it down and leaving it. I'm not sure about a quilt that would be washed though. There was one woman in the class I took the did decorative stitching on hers at the intersections to prevent them from coming apart.

I assumed you would stitch over all the raw edges after trimming it, similar to applique.

Great Fun - I think I'll try a fabric box or bowl. Thanks for sharing the link.

I have used steam a seam several times and like it. I used it on my "Psychedelic Yucca" quilt and it worked out great. I really like being able to move things around. If you go to pictures and check out under my name on 7-28-11 (sorry I don't know how to post how to get there any other way) and open up some finished and some in progress, you can see a picture of my quilt. I did do a satin stitch all around the leaves on the quilt. The only problem I have with it, is the fact that it only comes in 8x10 sheets or at least that is the only way I have found it.
